Counsel—found 159 times in 151 verses
Variations: counsel, counselled, counsels, counseller
First usage: Exodus 18:19 (counsel)
Last usage: Revelation 3:18 (counsel)
Defined: advice or input when used as a noun; giving of that advice or input when used as a verb
Interesting fact: The word counsel is closely associated to the thoughts that proceed forth from the heart (Proverbs 20:5) and mouth (Joshua 9:14) of man or God. Counseller is found amongst the glorious names of the Saviour in Isaiah 9:6. The Bible also refers to Him as the Word in John 1:1, 14. This reveals that the Lord Jesus came to this earth as an expression of the heart of the Father (John 14:6-11).
Bible study tip: When studying for the purpose of ministering to others, we should not focus solely on Bible study but incorporate daily Bible reading. God will use His word first to speak to your heart, and then use this God-given message to transform lives. Biblical instruction of any kind should always originate from God and His word.
