Reading and Studying—found eighty-five times in seventy-nine verses

Variations: read, readest, readeth, reading, study

First usage:Exodus 24:7 (read); Ecclesiastes 12:12(study)

Last usage: Revelation 5:4 (read); 2 Timothy 2:15 (study)

Defined: To read is to take in the sense of words as they appear in their intended structure and to study in this context is to contemplate the meaning and purpose of what is read.

Interesting fact: All scripture is worthy of our time spent in reading and studying, but the book of Revelation promises “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand” (Revelation 1:3).

Bible study tip: Take the Bible literally unless the scripture itself gives cause to do otherwise. In such cases, look for symbolism like that used in Revelation 1:12-13, 16. Often in these passages, the literal truth represented will be identified in the context. In this case, the stars and the candlesticks are defined as the angels of the churches and the churches, respectively (Revelation 1:20).

Deuteronomy 17:14 When thou art come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me;

15 Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the LORD thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother.

18 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:

19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:
