Giving—found 1,491 times in 1,350 verses in the Old Testament and found 555 times in 506 verses. This study will concentrate specifically on giving financially to the Lord.
Variations: gave, gavest, give, given, giver, givest, giveth, giving
Interesting fact: The scripture presents a strong connection between communication and giving. This will not surprise any diligent Bible student. Communication has to do with taking that which is personal and making it common with another. This is the type of communication referred to by the apostle Paul in Galatians 6:6, Philippians 4:14-15, and 1 Timothy 6:18.
Bible study tip: Bible study is not relegated to the study of words per say. Take time to study other elements, like the people of the Bible. Start with a somewhat familiar Bible character. Chronicle the details of that person’s life and the relative importance of each event. Then seek the practical strengths and weaknesses of this person and how his or her example might benefit you or others. Do not overlook the less prominent Bible characters who will offer some of the most often missed salient points.

1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
