1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Introductory Thoughts
God expects man to face his problems, but He does not expect man to resolve those problems independently. Ultimately, God desires to hear the burdens of the heart even if the burdens or cares have been brought upon man by his own wrongdoing. God, knowing the condition of Adam and Eve, made a point to visit them. He obviously knew Adam’s location but knew it was best for Adam to acknowledge the problem. He wanted Adam to tell Him about the problems brought on by sin. In like manner, God knows what man has need of before it is ever brought to Him in prayer (Matthew 6:8), but He still desires for man to come to Him for help.
Devotional thoughts
- (For children): Saul’s jealousy caused David to flee. He made the cave Adullam his headquarters and hid there from Saul. David took his problems to the Lord (Psalm 142:1-7). Read what Hezekiah did when threatened by the king of Assyria (2 Kings 19:9b-19).
- (For everyone): Where is the first place you go to find a solution to your problems? Do you first seek counsel from friends and family, or do you take your problem to the Lord?
- How could prayer possibly be an important step in resolving problems or potential problems? How can God’s intervention help us keep from creating additional problems?
Prayer Thoughts
- Ask God to teach you the necessity of prayer in problem solving.
- Thank God for His willingness to help you solve problems.
